Welcome Back to The Movies

Introducing CinemaSafe: a program promoting protocols and guidelines developed and supported by leading epidemiologists to support a safe return to movie theaters.

A historic alliance of over 415 companies representing over 3,150 locations and 33,200 screens nationwide have come together to commit to implementing expert-backed, industry-specific health and safety protocols. This program, commissioned by the National Association of Theatre Owners, puts the health and safety of our guests and employees at the center of movie theater operations across the country.

We also have suggestions for what you, the moviegoer, can do to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

OUR COMMITMENT

With theaters reopening, your safety is our focus. We’re committed to theaters and their employees adhering to all CDC, state and local regulations, as well as our own expert-backed suggestions.

Mandatory masks. Social distancing. Handwashing. Staggered showtimes and seating. Cleaning and Disinfecting all auditoriums, concession areas, surfaces and restrooms.

When you see the CinemaSafe badge, you can rest assured your cinema is doing — and insisting on — everything possible to ensure your safe & healthy return to the movies!

Safely Returning To The Movies:
Everything You’ll Need To Know

Want to learn a little more about CinemaSafe and our dedication to safe & healthy movies?

CinemaSafe Health & Safety Guidelines

We’ve mentioned a few key COVID-19 protocols already. In addition, The National Association of Theatre Owners has enacted the recommendations of health experts to address the specific environment of movie theaters addressing everything from mobile ticketing to air filtration. You can expect these protocols to be present in any CinemaSafe theater.

masks_required_icon.png

Masks Required

All employees must wear a face covering or mask. Patrons must wear a face covering at all times, except as noted by the CDC and herein. Those who are unwilling to wear a face covering will be denied entry.

social_distance_icon.png

Social Distancing

Appropriate physical distancing must be maintained at all times between patrons, except members of the same household or those that attend together.

reduced_capacity_icon.png

Reduced Capacity

Theaters will explore novel options to minimize the number of patrons in an auditorium. Appropriate physical distancing must be maintained at all times between patrons, except members of the same household or those that attend together.

air_filtration_icon.png

Air Filtration

All HVAC systems should be in working order with increased ventilation whenever possible.

frequent_handwashing_icon.png

Frequent Hand-washing

Employees should be trained on hand-hygiene practices, and are required to wash hands frequently at easily-accessible hand-washing facilities.

hand_sanitizer_icon.png

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol (EPA approved ethanol or isopropyl) will be liberally placed in easily accessible public areas and patrons will be encouraged by staff and appropriately placed signage to practice hand hygiene.

enhanced_cleaning_icon.png

Enhanced Cleaning

Auditoriums should be carefully disinfected between movie screenings. High-touch surfaces should be wiped down periodically with EPA-registered disinfectant.

green_check.png

Employee Health Training

All employees should be trained on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 as well as local theatre policies and procedures.

00_GREEN_CHECK_revised.png

Modified Concessions

Minimize cash transactions and encourage credit cards or contactless payments whenever possible. Theaters will eliminate communal food and condiments that requires shared serving utensils or equipment.

mobile_ticketing.png

Mobile Ticketing

Tickets sales should be available online or via phone whenever feasible to reduce the need to stand in line for tickets. Alternatives to paper tickets should be used whenever possible.

stay_home_icon.png

Not Feeling Well?
Stay Home.

If you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, please stay home and we welcome you to join us again in the future.
